Yes, he just loves to read! I am happy that instead of playing computer games, he would just sit in the sofa or stay in his room and read.

When Bogs was still in his toddler years, we would read books often, thus his love for reading. Before he goes to sleep, I would read to him Bible stories and other books. When he started school, I bought books for us to practice reading. By the age of 3, he was already reading phonics books and simple sentences.

My mother-in-law had a simple technique in teaching beginning reading. She is a retired teacher and taught beginning reading all her teaching days. So she shared to me her technique and indeed, it worked! In just two short weeks, Bogs already learned to read simple C-V-C patterns and then from there, he read simple sentences. It was easy and mind you, I had to disagree with Bogs’ teacher in nursery school with their teaching methods… hehehehe… I really insisted that my MIL’s style was easier and effective. And yes it was!

Anyway, because it’s school break here and we did not enroll Bogs in any summer class, we just let him play and when he is not playing, he is reading. I brought out my mom’s encyclopedias and oh boy! He just shoots us with questions that we don’t have answers! Lol! Well, I just hope that Bogs will grow up loving reading because I know that with reading, he will be informed, he will have knowledge and he will become what he wants to be someday.

It’s so hot in the mornings and Baby Job just sweats a lot from all his “walking” around the house. So we decided to take him outside the house for his bath. Mommy has misplaced Kuya Bogs’ inflatable pool since it has not been used for eons now, and the old plastic tub (Kuya Bogs’ tub) has been idle for years now and has been used to catch rainwater… so Daddy thought of washing the tub clean and let the little one have a splash the other day.

Baby Job is happily splish-splashing in Kuya Bogs’ old tub.

He was so excited to sit in the tub and played with the cold water.

Oh Baby Job, please don’t grow up so fast. I would still love to have those chunky arms of yours!!!

My two boys, Bogs who is five years old and Baby Job, 10 months old, have been provided with all the things they need for their growth and development. From baby clothes, comfortable cribs, safe and sturdy prams, educational toys, learning dvds and host of other children’s stuff.

We always bring our kids outside and expose them to their surroundings, let them see the world outside the comforts of their homes and let them feel nature; and when we do, we always use prams to bring them around. Prams allow us to moves the kids easily from one place to another. We can do away with all the hassles of carrying them and taking in all the back pains because of prams. Mobility is very easy and we can take them anywhere. Aside from that, we can bring other stuff like some small bags of groceries, in cases when nappies ran out.

When we bought our prams, we took into consideration the safety and comfort our kids (who were still babies that time). We made sure that when we take them along with us, with them in their prams, they will feel comfortable and can even be lulled to sleep while being pushed. We also chose the one that had bright colors and has additional features such extra pouches, well padded, has containers for bottles and easy to maneuver. Even if it cost us some amount, it was worth our money. Our kids are all happy when we go out and they enjoy their own ride.

Having a small kid and a baby in the house is no easy job. I have to be on the constant lookout and to attend to their every needs and to make sure that everything inside the house is safe for them.

Child safety is a great concern for moms like me. Both my little boys (5 years old and 9 months old) still do not have the knowledge as to what things are safe to use and not to use. Promoting child safety is really a must for me. As their primary caregiver, it is my responsibility to instruct them about safety. Accidents can happen any time, so as much as possible, my children should not be left unattended.

For Baby Job, since I allow him to play on the floor, I make sure to keep him away from electrical fixtures and outlets. He loves to play with electrical wires, grabs it and eats it, so I have to cover our electrical outlets with safety plugs. Kuya Bogs, the older one actually did not pass through this kind of stage but even though, I made sure that there are no exposed electrical wires. The electrician we hired to fix our outlets and all was an expert like the electrician in edinburgh who really made sure that everything is safe for our kids. For the doors, I made sure to buy the child-friendly locks in case they play with the doorknobs and accidentally lock themselves in. Although I still worry, but I have experts like locksmiths nottingham to assist me when things like these happen.

I really do not want to underestimate or even overestimate my children’s abilities. I have to be sensitive to my children’s development progress to provide anticipatory guidance for their safety. As a mom, childproofing the house is necessary and very important.

Baby Job is already 10 months old today! Really??? It was the same time last year when he was still inside my tummy, furiously kicking and actively moving around his protective sphere. Now, he’s out and about!

Baby Job @ 10!

Baby Job is learning to balance on his feet, after holding on to something, he releases his hold and then balances. He is also learning his first baby steps and he really loves to practice walking.

At 10 months, babies are expected to:

sit up alone with and indefinitely

cruise or walk holding on to things

attempt to retrieve dropped objects

pull to standing position

Pincer grasp with ease

play peek-a-boo, waves bye-bye and

has repetitive consonant sounds (mama, dada)

But at nine months, Baby Job has already shown all these developments, well, except for the last one, he just vocalizes and though we teach him to follow us doing the sound, he would just look at our mouths. I really don’t like to worry because children grow at different rates. Some may learn to speak ahead of others while some learn to walk first than to speak. I would only worry if by three years old, Baby Job doesn’t have any spoken words or still talks gibberish.

Anyway, Happy 10 months Baby Job! Two more months and you’ll be one! We love you so much!!! May you grow up to be a man of God.

Kuya Bogs stepped on a nail! Ouchie!

Because it is vacation, Kuya Bogs has been out and about most of the time. He already knows how to go to the hospital where his daddy works (it’s near our house) and he also goes to the barangay hall and watches the men demolishing and re-constructing the health center (just beside our house too).

This afternoon, when his neighbor friends went outside to the plaza, he also went with them, when he came back, he was already limping and was shouting, “I need Betadine!” When I asked him what happened, he said he has “yayay” (hurt) on his foot. I asked him further what caused the hurt, the little boy said that he stepped on a nail! Uh oh!

So he went to get some Betadine and cotton at the medicine box and swabbed it on his foot. When I told his daddy about his injury, hubby said we had to inject anti-tetanus tomorrow. So we told Kuya Bogs that he needs to have an injection. Now he’s so afraid but we had to convince him.

Tomorrow, he will go with his daddy to the hospital and have the anti-tetanus injection. Poor little boy.

Baby Job eats anything his tiny hands can grab! Anything that gets in his hands goes into his mouth! See?

According to my reference (Maternal and Child Health Nursing by Adele Pillitteri), the infant (yes, Baby Job is still an infant ) explores objects by grasping them with the hands or by mouthing, this is his way of exploring the world around him. Mouthing helps the infant separate self from environment. This is a cognitive stage identified by Piaget (1966) as primary circular reaction.

So don’t worry if your baby mouths a lot, it’s just part of growing up. Just make sure that the objects or things that gets into their mouth are clean and safe.

Baby Job is already 9 months old! How time flies! In three months, he will be one year old and he’ll no longer be an infant.

Kuya Bogs and Baby Job!

Baby Job loves to play with his Kuya Bogs and the funny thing is that Kuya Bogs would stay inside Baby Job’s crib and they play together.

For Baby Job’s milestones, he already can cruise in his crib and holds on to the bars to get him through the other ends or sides. He can also make steps while being held but his feet are still tiptoed. Just a few days ago, he started to stand on his own without holding on to anything. It was really nice to see him stand for about half a minute. I just wasn’t able to capture that moment.

He eats a lot, his infant cereal, cookies, rice, anything that we give him, he would bring into his mouth. He also loves to chew on things, anything his tiny hands can grab, goes into his mouth too, hehehe…

Baby Job is just one happy baby. He can now wave goodbye and opens and closes his hands when we sing to him “Close, Open.”

Happy 9 months Baby Job! Stay happy, healthy and a good baby! Daddy, Mommy and Kuya Bogs love you very much!

My eldest son, Bogs, became a big brother to baby Job and that he is growing so fast then before we knew it, he is already a grown teenager. Although it is still a little bit far since he just turned 5 last January but his kindergarten days are numbered. And because he had good grades in his fourth periodical exams, he will be promoted to the next level when June comes. By that time he won’t be playing his hippie toy car anymore.

On the other hand, it does mean getting another set of school uniforms for him unless he did not overgrow his present uniforms. It is for this reason that as of this time I am already looking for discount Coupon Codes so we can get a good deal without jeopardizing our budget. At least in that way, I am helping my hubby in our tight finances for our daily needs.

I have visited several websites already but I like the Aeropostale coupon codes more than the others for they are offering free shipping aside from having great discounts. But what I like most in their promotional discount is the availability of school uniforms that really have great discounted prices. Getting lofty deals is a big help already especially when you are keeping track of your expenses because everything needs to be in order and prioritized and some are forced to set aside.

For the past three grading exams, he usually gets perfect scores in Reading and Language and gets a couple of mistakes in Math and Civics-Science, but this time, he got wrong answers in Reading.

Pardon me for “bragging” about my son’s achievement. I mean every mom out there, I know can relate with me… when your child is doing good in school, we are the happiest and the proudest, right?
